Catholic Cemeteries of Northeast Kansas offers a vast array of services that benefit Veterans. Three of our cemeteries have beautiful Veterans Memorials –Gate of Heaven, Kansas City, Kansas; Mt. Calvary, Topeka, Kansas; and Resurrection, Lenexa, Kansas. Designated Veterans burial sections adjoin these memorials. Our newest Veterans Garden and Memorial in Topeka features white granite headstones similar to those in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
Burial space and perpetual care in these sections are available at no charge to Veterans. The Veteran is responsible for expenses associated with opening and closing the gravesite, the vault and a setting fee for the marker; the Veterans Administration furnishes the grave marker.
Markers are already in place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Topeka. To order the marker for Gate of Heaven or Resurrection, the next-of-kin or authorized representative must
- Obtain a copy of the Veteran’s DD-214 form. If you need information about accessing this form, click DD-214.
- Complete the VA Form 40-1330, Claim for Standard Government Headstone or Marker. Please note: Catholic Cemeteries accepts only the bronze marker for its Veterans sections at Gate of Heaven and Resurrection; white granite markers are already in place in Mt. Calvary, Topeka.
- Bring, email or mail copies of both the completed DD-214 form and the VA Form 40-1330 to Catholic Cemeteries. We will submit these forms for you.
For additional fees, the Veteran’s spouse can acquire adjoining space and cover expenses associated with the opening, closing, vault and marker. (This privilege is limited only to spouses of Veterans and does not apply to other family members.) Annually, Catholic Cemeteries hosts observances on Veterans Day to recognize those men and women who have served our country in the armed forces.
