Markers are memorials made from bronze or granite that are level with the lawn or grass.
Bronze and Granite Memorials
The beauty and majesty of our Catholic faith can be captured forever in a timeless series of personalized “memorials”. With designs based on sacred symbols and writings of Christianity, you will find a wide range of monuments and markers from which to choose at your Catholic cemetery office, or from your in-home consultation with a Community Service counselor. Monuments and markers can be personalized with an individual’s photo or even a collage of photos that tell a special story of one’s passage through life, a story to be shared with all who visit the Catholic cemetery for generations to come.
In traditional ground burial, memorials are defined within two explicit categories, markers being one category and monuments being the second. Markers are lawn or grass level memorials made from bronze or granite. Oftentimes, you will find a combination of the two with a bronze marker being “mounted” on a granite base to add stability and strength far superior to simply mounting the bronze marker on concrete. Markers typically rest on grave sites that are smaller than what is required for upright monuments. If necessary, these lawn level markers “could” be moved more easily if required for the interment, whereas monuments are not easily moved.
Throughout all of the archdiocesan cemeteries, there are certain sections which specifically allow only flush memorials. Just as we do with our monuments, Catholic Cemeteries offers an array of styles and colors in domestic and imported granite when choosing a flush marker. In addition, Catholic Cemeteries also offers a complete line of beautifully designed bronze memorials which can be customized to depict your loved one’s life history as it is cast into bronze.
